Two incredible improvisers gather around a bed at MAMCO. Reconstructing a motel room in Canada, the space - a work by French artist Alain Bublex - is defined by the presence of a few stereotypical elements that suffice to set the scene: a bed, two nightstands, an alarm clock, two bedside lamps, a television, two armchairs, a map on the wall, and so on. For 30 minutes, the two musicians will find themselves there, searching for each other, dreaming and struggling, knocking on doors and postures, shaking furniture and beds, reading and whispering under the sheets, improvising something unique.

1 BOOK, 1 BED

The concept of this series is simple. Ensemble Vide chooses a book, finds a bed and invites artists to imagine a performance around these two elements. While the framework is strict and the book provided, the form and content of the event is entirely up to the guests, who invent a performance. The performance can be improvised or written, and requires no particular use of either the book or the bed.

This first edition takes place thanks to the kind invitation of RTS - Espace 2 and MAMCO, and is part of the 1,000,050th anniversary of art, a celebration invented by Robert Filliou.
