Eupepsia-Dyspepsia, An Archive of Appropriations
Conference-performance-concert conceived by Eva Reiter, musician and composer, and Karin Harrasser, Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Linz.
In the 18th century, in the Jesuit missions of Bolivian Chiquitania, strange and beautiful hybrids of baroque and indigenous music emerged. Eupepsia brings this archive back to life with a mixed instrumentarium combining baroque and electric instruments. Intrusion, hybridization, appropriation, digestion: a reflection on the long-term effects of cultural violence.
Produced by Ensemble Ictus, with:
Karin Harrasser, narrator and projections
Eva Reiter, viola da gamba, recorder and additional instruments
Tom Pauwels, electric guitar and additional instruments
Tom De Coc, percussion and additional instruments
Works by:
Marin Marais, Diégo Ortiz, Fredy Vallejos, Matthew Shlomowitz, Eva Reiter, Jorge Sanchez-Chiong
