Katalin
Katalin is an invitation and an encounter. An invitation to an essential sound artist, a shaman of body and voice, a powerful artistic and poetic personality from multicultural Vojvodina, Katalin Ladik. A meeting between her and Geneva-based artist Jacques Demierre, whose practice is intimately linked to poetry and language. Following a three-day residency, the two artists will perform together, taking all the detours of sound, exploring the multiplicity of voices, creating new sound gestures, vocal itineraries and bodily tracings. In the first part of the evening, Ladik will perform Alice in Codeland, a work in constant mutation that the artist has been reworking on a permanent and cyclical basis since 1980, and whose sonic and visual language concentrates both the important characteristics of Ladik’s work (corporality, metamorphoses, poetic message, reversed temporalities, incarnations and movement) and a highly accomplished theatrical and sonic performance style. This will be followed by a commission from Ensemble Vide for a new creation, with Jacques Demierre as exploration partner. What an exciting evening!
This show is dedicated to the memory of Karim Sabbegh, cook among the stars.
