Sur le temps is an encounter between Ensemble Batida, a contemporary music ensemble made up of three percussionists, and the vocal quartet Contre le Temps, an ensemble specializing in medieval music, made up of female voices. This event is part of the 6th season of Ensemble Batida crAsh-test / crAsh-son, offering a carte blanche to guest artists, followed by an improvised encounter with Batida’s musicians.

Sur le temps reveals, through improvisation, the relative distance between a centuries-old vocal practice and a heightened attention to the present. In the first part, Contre le Temps explores organum, a musical style that marks the beginnings of polyphony.
